Major labels lose global market share as indies gain in year of Adele

Three of the four major labels lost a slice of their global market share in 2011 as independent lables gained ground.

Data from Music & Copyright’s annual survey of the recorded music and music publishing industries has noted that Universal Music Group remained the largest record company in the world in 2011 while Universal Music Publishing Group bagged the biggest share of publishing.
