McGill and Maurice “Mo Styles” Humphrey. Terry has over 24 years experience in the music industry and
brings his knowledge and expertise to the website. Maurice is not new to the music industry
having over 12 years in the business and over 10 year’s in the internet field. These two
entrepreneurs have built a relationship that allows the website to be managed by a wealth
Terry McGill started his music industry career as a sales clerk at Sound Warehouse Records
and Tapes. He worked his way up at the retail store and eventually became Store Manager. While
he was working at the store he was able to learn the inner workings of the way music is sold.
At that time Record Labels where the main forces in the record selling business. So Terry took
his experience from the retail store and promotional knowledge to go and work for the major labels.
He spent almost an entire decade working up the chain of some of the majors such as Motown and RCA.
During his over 10 year career of working at the major labels he worked with such artist as DJ Jazzy
Jeff and The Fresh Price (Will Smith), Boyz II Men, Smokey Robinson, SWV, Hi-Five, A Tribe Called
Quest, Ghetto Mafia and, many more. In 1999 he had gained enough insight about the music industry
and decided to start his own company Major Money Entertainment.
He used his hometown Dallas as the base for his music consulting company. Over the years he has done
such innovative things such as Celebrity Talent Showcases, an Artist Membership Organization, and
Major Music Conferences. All the while promoting artist to radio stations, key DJ’s, and important
industry contacts. Terry has been successfully running his company in an industry that he has been in
for over two decades. He stayed ahead of technology by building a strong internet database from day
one that is very useful in today’s digital world.
The digital world or the internet is something that Maurice “Mo Styles” Humphrey has been studying since 1995. Internet
marketing was the reason that brought Maurice to the internet. Maybe fate had a different path because
Maurice in few years would go on a journey to learn the music industry. He started out in a group called
Hostile Entertainment that was a mixture of friends and relatives but one collective to succeed in the
music industry. Hostile was very visible in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. It was 1998 and Maurice had
an attitude that if he was going to have success then he would need to learn how the business works.
He quickly learned that by doing mass street team promoting that he would be able to connect with the
movers and shakers within the local music industry. In 1999 he met Terry McGill and they have been in
strong contact ever since. Over the years Hostile did many shows, put out thousand’s of CD’s and, did
mass internet marketing. Having a mentor like Terry, Maurice was able to get some very inside education
about how the music industry works.
The internet was something that Maurice understood and continued to build a brand presence on. One of his
first projects was the actual Hostile Entertainment website. This lead to a whole different career path as
he saw the internet as a way for the future. He eventually started his own company Look at me Digital and
went on to build a business in the ever changing cyberspace. It only made sense for him to come up with the
idea of learnthemusicindustry.com by merging his knowledge of the music and the internet together.
Learn the music industry is a service that is managed by a team who combined has numerous amounts of
experience. Terry recently had some success with his membership artist organization The Texas Artist
Movement. Maurice played an important role in helping the movement grow so he saw a need to create a
